I have 6 spark plugs that came out of an engine I purchased. It says "FULL-SPARK Globe -Union Inc , Made in USA and the #26. They are in really good shape and tips look good. Might still be usable. I was going to test them (when my engine is up) and maybe use them. I looked on the internet and they seem to be CIRC 1937 at least. Are they worth anything? Can anyone help? Thanks for your help

They would probably be worth something to a spark plug collector but probably not much for a driver. They would have no value for a car that is being judged.

What would you recommend for a 32 with 194 - 6 cylinder?

If the car is a driver and not going to be judged I would recommend AC-C87 spark plugs. Gap the plugs at .040" and set your timing at 18 degrees.

If the car is going to be judged, what Spark Plugs should be installed, where do you get them, and what would be the gap, timing, and dwell settings. I have the C-87 plugs installed with reproduction - original type spark plug wiring.

Thanks

Depends on the judge. Most only look for AC plugs on '31 engines. Really knowledgeable will look for AC G12 plugs. If using an original coil I advise staying with stock 0.025" gap and 12 deg. advance with 0.018" point gap. If you want more performance the gap plugs to 0.040" and advance timing to 16-18 deg. Point gap stays the same. Don't remember the dwell of the top of my head.

Does anyone stock G12 plugs or NOS G12? I checked my normal sources including e-bay, google, the FillingStation, I&I, a couple of 60+ year old auto parts stores and no luck. Any ideas? Is it worth the effort? I am working toward a prize winner.

Thanks

The G-12 plug has been discontinued for many decades and they are very hard to find now. If you do find a new old stock set they would probably cost you big bucks and since they are so expensive you would probably want to use them for show only.

G-12's are very hard to find here in the Midwest. I did come across some original AC G-12's that were "reconstructed" as it states on the box. Eckard & Smith is the manufacturer from Long Beach, California. These plugs that I have are "new" in the Eckard & Smith boxes. When were these AC G-12's spark plugs reconstructed? Was this a popular business to be in during the depression when it must have been cheaper to reconstruct a spark plug than to make a new one? Or was this done during WW II? Where spark plugs were not being manufactured for the general public? These spark plugs look as if they are New Old Stock, which they obviously are not.

Reconstructed spark plugs were available during the same time as retreaded tires. Don't know when it started but seems that it ended early 60s. I used reconstructed spark plugs a few times but always thought they didn't last as long as new ones. They were about 1/2 price of new as I recollect.

New or even good used G-12 plugs are very hard to find. Every once in a while one or more show up on eBay. There are also spark plug collectors that will sometimes have extras.
