I need to change out my taillight pigtail....What is the best method to solder the little bulb contact to the pig tail without burning the wire cover

The good folks at YNZ said to put some solder on the end of your wire (tin it), slide the contact onto the end of the wire, heat the contact with your soldering gun (the surface the bulb makes contact with). It'll melt the solder on the wire and pull it to the contact. When you're done move the soldering iron away from the contact in a sideways motion so that you don't pull the contact off of the wire (the solder will still be liquid). It works well.
