Looking at my 34 master 3 window coupe from the inside it appears that at one time there could have been another wiper mounted on the passenger side? The hole is filled in now.

Also noticed on my 33 master 5 window, there was also a hole on the passenger side that was filled in with brass at one time.

Just guessing...but were the holes made on the passenger sides (but filled) anticipating right hand drive production?

I don't know if the holes were filled during production, but my 34 Master sedan has both holes and the wipers.

My 1932 has the extra blind wiper hole as well. The blind hole was probably there for right hand drive vehicles.

I don't know about earlier Chevy's but on my 1938 Master the passenger side wiper was a option along with the passenger inside sun visor...only the deluxe models came with both wipers and both inside sun visors......ED

I have alway thought that the right hand wiper was an option, along with right hand ; SUN VISOR, TAIL LIGHT, SPARE IN FENDER . My 35 std coupe has the cutout for the rh wiper.

Those would be the most common standard options to a base car.

With other options available like : radio, luggage rack, rumble seat (gives you roll down rear window) , vent window insect screens, fender markers, radiator ornament, bumper guards and lots of other stuff.

just my opinion

The right wiper was not a factory installed option but rather it was a a dealer installed accessory.
In 1934 was was part #980465 and sold for $1.50. It included the motor, arm and blade, "T" fitting, etc.
The RH tail light and visor were accessories while the side mounted spare was a factory option.....but could also be dealer installed.

Hey Pat, your missing a metal strap over that hole which nails to the wood. It is like a filler for not having the motor there.

Is that to prevent the header upholstery from sinking in?

Yes I think so, I'll see if I can find a picture when I get back from the NW meet this weekend.
