Hi there. How can I take the play out of my steering box on a 51 chevy two door sedan. Moving from center position there is 1 to 2 inches of play. Everything thing else is tight underneath. Any info would be appreciated.

You would be doing yourself a favor if you purchased a copy of the Drivers Manual and the Service Manual. You can do a search on this Forum for a posting of the manual also.

Hi there, Thanks for the enfo. I have a manual but I thought if someone has done this before it would be easier. They mention tools you have to use. I don't have anything like that. I was thinking there might be a old school method that could be used. Everything on the underside is tight. there is about 2to 3 inches of play. Could this be normal for this year. Thanks again for the reply

I don't recall anything special in the way of adjustment "tools" in particular...Except that "fish scale" thingy for the steering wheel...I wouldn't put it past the whole steering box being wore out, but on the top/center of it is a nut and slotted adjustment screw...read-up on it and start there...
