Hi. I bought a 42 chevy last March and found out that the 216 has a cracked block! I'm hoping it can be repaired but if not then I will be searching for a new engine. I'm located in upstate NY near Rochester. Does anyone know where I can locate another running 216 for my baby. Here's a pic of her. (The previous owned put those red block checy letters on each side of the hood. I bought the correct scripts and will be replacing the red lettering soon!!) my 42 . Thanks. pnbm@aol.com

42 Pat-
There is a 216 guy in Upstate New York, maybe not far from you, who is the tech advisor for 47-53 trucks. He might have an engine you can use. I'll email you the information.

Check The Stovebolt 'Swap Meet' - http://www.stovebolt.com/ - Parts - Engines for Sale. There are some 235's for sale in NY. And if you post in the 'engines wanted' section, you might get a nibble...

Thanks for all of the info. I'm going to try to get the block fixed first and if that doesn't help then I'll throw in a different engine.

Don't ovelook Patrick's as a place to check out for any engine swap from 216 to 235. I don't have the web site book marked, but try http://www.dogpile.com and plug in their name in the fetch area. Dogpile is a good search engine and will locate Patrick's web site easily. I have a '42 coupe that has been modified. Having done so, I would love to have been able to return it to original and start on her again as a complete restoration. I yanked the 216 and gave her away quite a while back. The engine was full of crud and would have not been a good bet on a rebuild though.

good luck on her,
Huey

That's right Huey, I searched - patricks az chevy 6 - in Dogpile and it came right up - www.patricksantiquecars.com . He also advertises regularily in Hemmings. I had a 235 in my 42 Aerosedan years ago and its a simple switch. Put some of Patricks goodies in and it'll really go.
