My 26 Roadster doesn’t have a gas gauge on the tank. Was there (at the time) or is there a gas cap with an integrated gas gauge? I’m planning on integrating a dip stick onto the current cap, but if an original exists, I’d rather use same.

Thanks

No original gas gauge until 1927.

Does your gas tank have a threaded spout?

I have seen threaded after market ones, that replaced the original threaded cap and used a cork to turn a needle.

Not sure if the one shown above is an OEM, or not. Anybody know?

Roger: The top gauge is not OEM, however it is a rare item. I have a similar gauge, but does not have the Chevy logo on it.

If you decide to unload the top gauge I am in line for it.

One thing people used to do was to use the trip odometer as a gas gauge of sorts. If you know your car or truck will go 100 miles on a tank, you set the trip odometer to "00" when you fill up and at say 75 miles start thinking about looking for a gas station. another thing was to make a dip stick marked with India Ink marking it at each gallon added. Ford made them for the "T", but a lot of people just made thier own. Personally, I just have a stick I pulled off one of my shrubs in the yard and just dip the tank and estimate it. 3"inches, Ok I can go 15 miles no problem". Stick goes back under the seat for next time.
