Was the positive battery cable gray in color on the 31 sedan.Mine was attached with a strap to the front bolt on the body.No bow tie.

The original positive battery cable was a black cloth covered cable. It was attached from the positive battery post to the terminal on the starter switch. The negative cable went from the negative post on the battery to the frame. All Chevrolets are negative ground!

You were not too clear regarding the attachment of your positive battery cable. There is a clip on the rear engine cross member that holds the positive battery cable. Is that what you are asking?

When i took off the cable off the car it was attached with a strap type hanger to the bolt that runs through the body and very front of the sill.Kinda looks like it belongs there.
