Politicians dont need us to give them nasty ideas.
Although it appears to have originated in a fairly prominent newspaper it might be best to remove from Chat so as not to give the impression of support.

???.....Now I'm kinda confused here. If a JOKE is posted and all fall for it on April fools day, but in reality may be of some serous concern to car collectors, then how is that seen as not appropriate on an antique car forum?
April fools, maybe but we all have seen what can happen over night and I don't trust any of them.

I'm embarassed to admit when I got this email one week ago I forwarded it. If they taxed collectible cars then we have to insist they tax everthing else collectible - comic books, baseball cars, coca-cola memoribilia, etc. Unfortunately, as the article states, collectible cars get a lot more attention from the televised auctions. In my state a $150,000 home may cost you $1,000 per year in property taxes. This collectible car tax - a $150,000 car would be $15,000 annually. It would kill collectible cars as a hobby or investment.

When I read this story, my first thought was does Schumer know all this about collectible cars? I do not think so.

I am not sure (because they keep everything so vague until they drop the bomb) but I think in Maryland they would use titles, not just reg. to levy a tax and I have 7 to worry about. Not all are reg. and some may end up as parts but the 7 titles are in my name and there is no way I could pay a tax on all.

Now all this may just be needless speculation but as I stated before "I don't trust any of em".

I'm going to lock this thread... I wrote up a long, pithy explanation about why... but then accidentally deleted it. Even an expert occasionally screws up. Dang.

In my deleted explanation, I talked about an old saying that I've heard before -- " There's no Fool like an Old Fool. " Well, guess what, we are ALL getting fooled by the dipsticks in Washington DC.... and not just by spammed urban myths. Ha!

No more politics... let's go talk about Chevy's!!!
