I'm ready to install the rear splash apron to bumper seal on the '48. The seal I have has a very large round open cross-section on one side, a flat section in the middle and a very small solid round section on the other side. Does the large round open section go on the top of the splash apron or the bottom? Should it be trimmed around the areas where the splash apron bolts to the bumper braces/bumper (this would seem like a necessity if the large section goes on the bottom of the apron)?

It's been a long time since I did my '48 convertible back in the middle 80s but I think it goes on the top of the splash apron. I used the original seal and I found it on the top...

Thanks. Given the shape of the seal, it seems like the logical place, but I just can't recall seeing the seal sitting on top of the splash apron when I've looked at other 47/48s, but I wasn't really focused on that. Could be they're just missing or I just didn't notice it.
