What is the number stamped on the optional 3rd note horn? Right and left appear to be 325 and 326; 327 appears to be an optional horn for a pickup truck. Is the optional horn for the truck the same frequency as the optional 3rd note horn on the passenger car? I'm looking for a non-working 3rd note passenger horn for a 57 chevy, and the stock pigtail to connect one. thanks joeyk3950

From the information that I have the 1957 3rd note horn has a higher pitch and is no louder than the stock horns. The higher pitch blended in with the stock horns does produce a more piercing tone. The differences are it does not have the H or L cast into the opening and it has a different number of "turns" in the casting and the a slightly different thickness of the diaphragram. Also the mounting bracket is very slightly longer.
The truck came with a single low note horn and the acccessory horn was just a matching hi note horn . I would assume the truck horn had a different mounting bracket or the horn was mounted at a different angle on the bracket.

i've removed a good many third horns from cadillacs of the late 60's and 70's while junkyarding. i never checked them for pitch but perhaps the caddys may serve as a soure for the optional high pitch 3rd horns.mike
