If you find a business that will re-silver, let me know. I have several day-night mirrors that need done also.

The local glass shop suggested that I find a larger day/night from a newer vehicle at an auto wrecker and they would cut it to size for me.If all else fails,I'll try this.

There's an outfit in Wellington KS that does resilvering. They don't get in a hurry but the job they did on the mirror/clock I sent them was OK. The shop is called A Moment In Time. Their phone is 620-399-8765. They don't do the dark silvering that was common back then, they do the modern bright silvering.

Thanks to everyone for your responses.I sent a note to 'mirror resilvering' and got an estimate for the job and shipping to Canada, about $40-50.They'll do a batch of mirrors every 3 weeks or so. I'll sit on mine for a while til my pension goes up.

This might sound funny, but there is a place here in Portland.

Bruce,

Just curious, why did you say "this might sound funny...." ????

Anyway, I had the day/night inside rear view mirror on my '54 hardtop re-silvered years ago. I suppose around 30 years ago. The place was in the area of the Memorial Coliseum, probably about 4th or 5th Avenue, just a bit north of Broadway. As I recall (back in 1980, or so) it cost less than $10.

I didn't mention any of this because I don't recall the name of the place. And, frankly, I have no idea if the place is even still around after all this time....

Bill.

I took the old mirror with me to a local wreckers and after a little searching, found a day/night mirror in a later model Acura that was almost the same size for $10.I used a Dremel tool to cut the plastic case off and took the two mirrors to a Speedy Auto Glass shop that trimmed the Acura one to size for $5.for the coffee fund.Put everything back together and it works perfectly.

Hello Barney:

What year Chevrolet are you trying to find a day/night mirror for? I am interested in doing the same to my 1940 day/night mirror if your idea works for my car.
