The names and phone numbers for the 2 host hotels will be published here on Chevy Chatter after 8-1-10. The hotels are not accepting reservations now and they are not giving the special VCCA rate of $99/night until 8-1-10. Their computers are set-up to accept reservations no more than 50 weeks before an event. Our Anniversary Meet will be Sunday July 17th, 2011 until Saturday morning July 23rd, 2011.

Stay tuned and get ready to call the host hotels in Flint, Michigan in just a couple more weeks.

ps. I will be there in my 1966 Chevelle. See you there.

Yep... There is no hotel large enough to host all of the expected registrations. But these two hotels are right next to each other - in fact they share the same parking lot. So together they meet our need for the proper number of anticipated rooms.

There is an RV Park that will be listed for Flint. Just a few more weeks and you can start to make your reservations for your hotel rooms. I called The Flint Visitor and Convention Bureau twice today and they are working on a number of issues related to our Anniversary Meet. I have been very pleased with the efforts of the Flint Visitor's Bureau.
I have spoken again with the host hotel. Their computers will not yet accept our reservations, nor will they give us the VCCA room rate which is $99 for either of the 2 host hotels....................so just a few more days of waiting.

I'm not going to say who I talked with about next years 50 th. Anniversary Meet, but if what I was told is true, this event WILL BE the Best Anniversary event in the history of VCCA.

The events, venues, tours and activities will be very special.

In fact this may be the first & only time you will get to take part in some of these GM/Chevrolet events/tours.

Be there, is my suggestion.
Enjoy the ride,

Thanks Sal.

But the truth is Dave M. & His energetic team {hats off to them. Pardon the pun} are doing ALL the work. Like you, I'm just along for the ride, so to speak.

And I agree with you!!! Using the web/chat site/email addresses/automation/computer thingy may just catch on bigl

Will you be coming down to L. A. for any shows this year ?

I hope all is well on the beautiful central California coast.

It does not look like I will be making any trips down to the LA area this year. I am signed up for the Hillsborough Concours on 9-11 the same day as the OCVCCA meet. Maybe the Oct meet in Tustin could work out. I will have to wait and see.

The local National Board Members are saying that the registration information for the 50th Anniversary Meet will be published in the Aug. G&D but registration can not be made until Aug. 19th.
Am I misinterpeting the information being given here that registration can be made any time after 8-01-10?

50th Anniversary Meet reservations can be made after 8-1-10. I am working with the host hotel to have their computers programmed for a bunch of reservations coming in. They will probably not load the information in their computers until 8-1-10 in the morning.
I am also working on camping information in the Flint area for those of you who like nature.

I think you will be surprised at the number of folks that have an RV and tow a trailer with car. Minimum requirements are at least 30 amp service and a pull-through of approximately 60 feet. Proximity is important as several of us bring early 4-cylinder cars. Back roads are highly prized.

Ray,
You must remember that the main focus of the Anniversary Meet or any other VCCA Meet is on Vintage Chevrolets. I think the committee has their hands full finding facilities for all the Vintage Chevrolets and members housing. We'll just have to make due with what they find.

I have asked the Flint Visitor's and Convention Bureau to provide me with the most convenient campgrounds near the host hotel. The campgrounds that I have so far are:

Groveland Oaks Campground
14555 Dixie Highway
Holly, MI 48442
248-634-9811
www.destinationoakland.com
269 modern sites with electrical and water
15 miles from host hotel

Yogi Bear's Jellystone Park at Holly
Flint / Holly KOA
248-634-0803
www.koafunpark.com
14 miles from host hotel

Genessee County Parks and Recreation Wolverine Campground
Holloway Reservoir Regional Park
1-800-648-PARK Ext 6 for reservations
www.geneseecountyparks.org
26 miles from host hotel

dtm
ps. If you find closer or better campgrounds than the ones listed above, please email me and I will add it to the list.

Finding facilities for the RV group is just as important as the members that stay in a motel. The percentage of members who use RVs is actually quite high. Finding acceptable RV locations must be high on the list of any acceptable site for an Anniversary Meet. Locations that are 15-20 miles from the meet headquarters are considered unacceptable.

What is the scheduled time for the Swap Meet portion of the Anniversary Meet and will it be located at or near the headquarters?

Flint Swap Meet dates and times at the Host Hotel:

Sunday July 17th, 2011 - set-up early if you like

Monday July 18th, 2011 - probably in the Holiday Inn Gateway Centre back parking lot from 8am until dark.

Tuesday July 19th, 2011 - same info

details may change a little, but above information is tentative, but almost finalized.
