DBA is a 1946 2nd series 1/2 ton truck engine.
At this point I can not find the casting number. Was this number on the block, head, maniflod or?

After doing a search I can not find a 3835160 block casting number. Actually block numbers in that series of numbers did not appear till a few years later.
What I did find is the casting number for a 1941-48 intake manifold, its 3835150. Perhaps that is the nimber he saw??????

I don't know for certain. They said it was a casting number on the block. Now I'm wondering if it was a intake manifold number. It may be an error in reading the number???? I'll see them in a few days and check it myself and get back to you.
They were trying to find their VIN number. I finally got them to look in the right place for the engine stamp number.
Thanks,

Chevgene:
Just got back from seeing the truck and getting the numbers. Here goes:
Engine casting number GM 839770
Engine stamp number DBA89522 ((1946 second series 1/2 T))
Intake manifold casting number 3835150
Transmission casting number 591195 ((3speed????))
Radiator Harrison 3116353 45K
Carter W-1 ((brass tag missing))
Serial number plate and trim tag are missing, but believed to be in one of the parts boxes.

Any info you can provide will be appreciated.
Looks like I've bought the next project.

839770 is a 1946 216 engine casting number
The engine number indicates its probably the original engine.
Intake correct for 1941-48
591195 1941-47 3 speed
Radiator is standard 2# truck core....45K radiator made in 1945, K=probably Oct.
The radiator is a little early for a late style 1946 as they came along in May of 1946 but there was a strike from Nov 1945 till March of 1946 and radiators may have been stockpiled
