Got a 63 nova ss with a 194 six and a air cooled powerglide. Seems the powerglide is starting to leak from the seals and occasionally slips. In the shed is a mid 70s turbo 350,, that extra gear would sure be sweet on the highway. They appear to be close in size. Anybody know if the turbo 350 would bolt up to the 194 six? If i need to modify anything much, I wont entertain the thought, But if it is a easy fix, why not? I figure i wont be able to shift it into low 1 and would have to install a new radiator with a cooler, any thoughts?

The TH 350 will bolt up to the 194 engine. Not all TH 350s are the same length, measuring would be necessary. The drive shaft could be shortened or extended. It would not give you an "extra gear" on the highway as in top gear it is still 1 to 1 as is the PG. Would provide more gearing for take off and have an intermeadiate geat for passing. To get a highway gear you would need to find an overdrive 4 speed like a 700R.
A seperate cooler could be placed in front of the radiator for cooling.

If the trans has provision for external cooler I WOULDput a cooler in front of the radiator. No cooler could prove rather expensive.
