Yes. If you are a member of the VCCA check the "Parts For Sale" section of the August issue of the Generator & Distributor.

The Filling Station has '37 and '38 data plates for both the Master and Master Deluxe for $21 plus shipping.

The plates advertised in the G&D are $15 each and they apparently come with the customer's serial number stamped on. So, at least there are two vendors to choose from.

:vcca: These are offered on ebay most of the time under Parts and Accessories. I think there are some on now under 1938 Chevrolet Parts and Accessories. These are usually totally blank and the stamping is up to the individual. Actually, I think the MASTER or MASTER DELUXE, as appropriate, is painted on, not stamped. Beamer

Correct. The model type is painted on (silk screened I believe) and the car serial number is stamped on.

That's good information to have. Thanks for posting it. The plates sold on ebay don't have the model silk screened so they're not an accurate reproduction. I bought mine from The Filling Station and stamped my own. I discovered that the factory stamping must have been done using odd size stamps. The closest I could come were 3/16" stamps for the location, model and date code with the serial number being 1/8". The factory stamps from my painted over original plate appeared to be slightly smaller for both.

The factory stamps were "special" and do not match any standard available ones. Talked to a guy in Wisconsin who makes reproductions of the originals several years ago. Unfortunately did not follow through on getting a set.

patriot Chipper, This is great info. I have been beating the bushes for quite some time to find the "correct" size stamps. It is nice to know the factory used a non-standard size. Maybe now I can finish my plate. Beamer

driving Doug, Your Profile shows you are a member of the VCCA and therefore, you should be getting the Generator and Distributor (G & D) monthly. If you are still a member and do not get the magazine, something is wrong. Then again, perhaps you have just never heard of the magazine being referred to as the G & D. Beamer

Beamer, I joined in 2002 and don't recall ever getting the magazine. I know I moved that year so possible the purchaser is enjoying the magazine. Wonder how I can get this corrected? I changed my address in my profile long ago.

Hi Doug: If you joined the Vintage Chevrolet Club of America in 2002 then your membership number would not be 1056 as you indicate in your Chevy Chatter II profile (1056 would be too low of a VCCA number for 2002 since that VCCA number was issued way back in the early to mid-1960's). According to your profile you registered with Chevy Chatter II in July of 2002 and your member number of this site is 1057, and you apparently incorrectly posted 1056 as your "VCCA number" in your profile.

To get the Generator & Distributor magazine you must be a dues paying member of the Vintage Chevrolet Club of America, not just a member of Chevy Chatter II.

JYD, It seems to me that during one of the change of providers for the website that they added in a number to our old Chatter registration number.
that 1056 is probably Doug's original Chat number instead of his VCCA number if he has one.

Yep, you are correct. After you mentioned that I do remember after CC II went to a new host all of the CC II member numbers were increased by one.

drivingI don't know if you found the ID plates you were looking for ('37 vehicles did not have VINs) so here are some currently listed on ebay. ebay #400067026555, blank, currently at $15.95 + 3.75 shipping. #400067119419, printed with MASTER, currently at $14.95 + 3.75 shipping. #400067086755, printed with MASTER DELUXE, currently at $15.95 + $3.75 shipping. These are all being offered by the same vendor. Good luck. Beamer

Beamer;

Thanks for the links for the VIN plates. Now I will have to get some stamps to duplicate the VIN number. The ones I have are close but as was said earlier not the exact size.

As far as membership I just don't remember how long I joined for and after 7 years and having CRS for some years I think I will have to re join, so thinks Tiny for that link
