I have removed the mat from my running boards and find there are four depressions, one in each corner where the braces are attached. Are these supposed to be there?

Yes they are made that way. The original mats were molded to the boards which filled the depressions. If a glue on mat is used these depressions must be filled with a body filler then the mat glued in place.

You can try I&I Reproduction in California, but you will probably get the same response. :( :( :(
