I'm going to order some cloth covered wire to replace the wires coming off the generator on a '40 Special Deluxe. I've got a '40 shop manual and it shows the wire diagrams but doesn't specify the color or tracer colors of the wires. I'd also like to know what gauge wire was originally used.

Thanks
Don

First I went to the 1942 shop manual. It says both wires were natural (color) with black tracers. The 1949 showed the same. The 1950 did alittle better and listed the same colors and 16 Ga. It would be safe to say the 1940 would have been the same as the same Gen. and Reg. was used.
The battery wire going to the Reg. is 10 Ga.
