I may part out a 490 touring car, keeping and restoring the motor and trans for a static(operational) display for the collection. Is there much interest /need for these parts. Good wheels, body, headlights etc? Could part out a 1920 490 touring as well if it won't sell as a complete car. Feedback please.Last resort would be parts on Ebay.Do they do very well there?

I might have interest in the Steering Gear Box, Column, Wheel. Essentially everything from the Steering wheel to the bolts on the frame of the gear box.

Thanks

I am interested in 490 parts. Yes, there is a market for these parts and eBay is a very good place as it reaches many people. I look on an almost daily basis. I am interested in speedometer parts that go to the left front wheel (gears) and cable assembly. Original firewall oil can and mounting bracket. Metal bows for a touring. Any older parts for an early 490?

Thanks for asking

Interested in wheel for 1916-1917, but only non-demountable.

To which model year do you have?

Do not have any non-demountable wheels. I will keep the forum advised as to what the boss wants me to do. For right now we have a complete running 1917 490 touring car for sale. I will post and add in the classified section soon. Thanks guys, Andy.

Erling (SOLAN) needs a 23 inch beaded edge rim for a 1916 490.

The rears are 3 1/2 inch width , the front is 3 inch width.

The Type is a non demountable for wooden fellows and spokes without any rim lugs

Yes , he is after a clincher rim.

Chevrolet never sold just the rim for the 1916 model 490, they only sold complete wheel assemblies, 30 x 3" for the front, and 30 x 3 1/2" for the back. But they are actually 23" diameter.

He could use the Demountable rim, but would need to rework the rim at the tube valve area which is a raised square locating area on the 1917 and later 490 models. This would need some cutting and welding to this area of the rim.

He has been after one for a while.

Thanks for helping comments, folks!

Has anyone tried to use parts ment for a T-F**D to rebuild a non-demontable wheel/rim for a 490?

The above mentioned 490 is currently listed on eBay as a complete car.

I have no association with this car or auction.

That is a different 490 that we are selling that is a complete running and driving car. We also have 2 other 490 tourers and may be parting one of those out in the near future.Sorry for the confusion. Andy.

Sorry for any confusion. I saw the car on eBay and made an assumption since there was one listed for sale in the cars for sale section by the same person.

Scoring an antique on Ebay is like winning at the slot machine.

I am trying to locate a wheel puller since my original was borrowed only to be never returned.

There is a 1917 490 for sale on Craigs List located in Eugene OR if anyone is interested. Also a Columbia River Region member may have the rim you are looking for. I am not sure if he has a computer or not, but has about 1000 rims for sale and was showing me some of the differences between the Chev and Ford rims.

hi
I have a 1919 touring 490. Need a driveshaft and components mainly a drivesft. The one I have was broke when I bought it and did not have all the parts. Even a rusted old one will do as I can get one made.I can use it as a pattern.
