I have a very stock 1935 standard 3W coupe in quite good condition. Because nearly everything needs to be restored, I'm thinking about installing a 235 with a 5speed from a S10 pickup.I will probably look for a bolt-in front suspension and a simple rearend swap. Then I'll be able to bolt in hydraulic brakes. I think I'll be able to do most of this myself. I'm having a little "crisis in confidence". I need to talk to someone with some experience.

Hi, you have been welcomed to our group in a previous post. From the direction you are headed you will not find much help from this forum. We cater to the original configuration and correct restorations.

Most of us have little to no experience with major swaps or modifications. We may not be of much help because modifications require either some experience or engineering expertise. I do know of a person who is trying to use a S-10 5 speed in a 20s Chevy. He understood it was just a bolt in but has found that it has raised numerous challenges and still does not have it streetable after over a year of work.

I have been there with engine swaps (I have done 3) and it can vary from a can of worms to a large barrel of dangerous snakes. Think about it very carefully.

You might want to try one of several street-rod sites on the Internet since the fellows there can probably help you with your questions. On this site we tend to keep our cars in stock condition.

Good luck with your project.

wink :)
