A few weeks ago I removed the seat from my GB Coupe. The floor is in excellent condition with only a few places of very light surface rust.
-What color should the floor be? It appears that the floor was originally painted with a red primer and then a few areas like next to the door sills covered with black.
-What is the material used as a floor covering under the seat and floor mat. It appears to be something like a very heavy (30+ lb) roofing felt.
-Was this material also over the plate that covers the transmission?
-What is the correct hardware for the transmission cover plate?

Thanks,
Rusty

I looked under the mats, etc. on my '39 today. Most of the area is covered with like a tar paper and is glued down. Where I can see the floor its black including the rear floor and under the rear seat. I would guess the red primer was applied at one time to stop or cover the rust.
