The 10th annual Southern Spring Tour was held last week at the Fin & Feather Resort on Lake Tenkiller Ferry and we had a great turnout of VCCA folks and their pre-55 Chevrolets, folks came from all around the USA and even fron across the pond! We were treated to seeing some really great cars and shops in the area. The Host Region (Heart of 66) did a great job of entertaining us. The weather was cool and we received a lot of rain, which kept the temperature down to a pleasent level. We missed seeing several of our regular touring folks due to life's setbacks.
The 11th annual SST will be in the Brenham, Texas area in the spring of 2008.

Is there a reason why the good cars were placed in the back row. Was the picture an attempt to rank the cars? I don't get it.

Looks to me like two of the "best" cars are exactly front and center.

Incidentally, are either one of those two cars in the middle of the front row for sale??? Any body know about that???

Bill.

The photo was taken with the vehicles of the six families that had attended all ten of the SSTs in the front row. Don't know that any of them is for sale but with a high enough offer you never know? Ray the tallest vehicles were placed in the back row. Due to the rain the original photo location was not accessable and this substitite has some soft ground nearest to the camera location. This resulted in the alignment seen in the photo. It only took 50 minutes to stage and shoot the photos with vehicles only and also with the riders and drivers. Maybe not a record but did get done before lunch was served, barely!

It was an outstanding event - well organized, and much to see. And many new Chevy friends to get to know, as well as visiting with old ones. And great cars!

I'm not sure if I had more fun the evening I sat for a few hours with the Texas crowd eating hot dogs, drinking beer and swapping stories - or the day that Sid Jones let me drive his Red '53 convertible for the day! But life was good.

Chip, I hope you took good notes on the positioning for the group picture. 50 minutes, if not a record, a good DVD. We'll put you in charge of the 4-cylinder pictures in Montana.

Ray,
I will be right behind you in line to take over for Dan and Tom. Well maybe not right behind but I will be back there somewhere. As usual the photographer had no clue how to "artistically" arrange vehicles. Bill Bradford on one radio and I on another with a couple other folks directing traffic got it done. Because of wet ground we could not afford to have the typical back and forth jockeying. Just pointed them in a direction and stopped them when in position. A few of the gaps were due to soggy ground.

Dean and Wes with Dean's 38 firetruck. Anyone that hauls a firetruck from Arizona to Eastern Oklahoma should be seen!

Yep, Chipper that is how it should be, I did have a slight clue about what was going on when I saw and heard folks running around and some standing on a fire escape, and talking on Talkabouts!

They don't get much more original than that one. And the owner has been bitten by the touring bug. Even had wife buy a '28 Sedan so they could go on 4 banger tours.
