For my chevy 235 split fentons and holley carb. Mild cam.

What is the exhaust pipe combo I should go with if I want more of a deep rumble vs that higher pitched popping noise?

Split pipes all the way down ? True duals.

Or

Split tied into one pipe straight back?

I was thinking about using 2" pipe all throughout

My experience is that the primary parts that determine noise level and type of noise are whatever mufflers and resonators you use.

If you run duals all the way back I doubt if you need 2” pipes. Plus those will be harder to route because they cannot be bent as tightly and physically take up more room.

Remember that the factory exhaust was a single 1 3/4” pipe. Dual 1 1/2” pipes have about 50% more total cross section.

How will it sound if one was to put a standard muffler and a "dynatone", et al on one header and the standard on the other? That would give the loud sound of the cylinder every other firing sequence.

At highway speed wouldn't that give you a slower and more desirable rumble?

I don't know.

That is what was on my 1950 216 when I got it. Split manifold with the stock muffler and pipe and the second pipe with a glasspack. It sounded great!
