Does anyone know what the original CFM was for the Carter AFB that came on the 300hp 327"? I can't seem to find it anywhere....

My 1965 workshop doesn't give the CFM for the AFB,
Gives the following part numbers

Syncromesh 3721 SA prt no 3851761
P/GLIDE 3720 sa prt no 3851762

Chevrolet by the numbers doesn't help either,
lists 1965 afb as Large 4 barrel for 327 - 300hp 350hp 365HP
4gc 4 barrel for 250hp.

My understanding was that the 4gc 4jet had about 465 cfm.
The afb i believe has 600 cfm.

No back up info though.

This might help.
300hp AFB has 1 9/16" primary. 1 11/16" secondary throttle bores
Primary venturis 1 1/4", secondary 1 9/16".

Make them a 575 cfm carb. according to this chart,
BUT i think he has the figures around the wrong way, as
1 7/16", 1 11/16" is smaller than 1 9/16" and 1 11/16 ,

My verdict 625 CFM for the 300 hp 327 carter AFB

575 sounds correct, I know it is in the shop manual I will look it up when go to the shop later this morning.

There was also another link on the internet ,
The AMC site,

They quote the same chart figures as the buick site,(same source) and then goes into discussion about the chart having 575 and 625 around the wrong way,

The bigger the venturis and throttle bores the more flow you
can have.

Found another chart on the AMC forum,
Has a chart on it , printed from what looks like the carter book,
and the chart says that a AFB 3721 has a CFM of 575.

Volumetric efficiency for a 6000 rpm 327 = 327 x 6000 divided by 3456 = 567 CFM
