does the parking lights go off after you turn on the headlights if so is there a way to get around this ?
If the parking lights burn when the headlights are on, then they wouldn't be parking lights, would they?
Yes you could make then be on anytime the headlights are on, but why?
well it looks better at night with the tailend all dark ,,,

Sounds like someone installed the pigtails with the housing upside down or it had the wrong bulbs.
Yeah somthing is different, right now my tail lights stay on even when the headlights are on , now the front parking lights go off, thats what going there,,,i ned to work on that next
Thanks
The tail lights should be on with either the parking lights or headlights. The three positions on the light switch are off, parking/tail, headlight/tail.
Years ago we owned a 58 Delray and the stock parking lights up front went off when the headlights came on.
According the 58 wiring diagram:
The four rear tail lights are supposed to be on with the headlights but all the same candle power.
The outers are stop/turn/tail. #1034 4/32 cp
The inners are one filament tail lights #67 4 cp unless you had the optional reverse lights (#1073)
Only the Impala had three tail lights on each side (optional reverse center lights).
I not messing with the rear i will redo the front ,
Thanks guys
The park lamps are designed to go off when the light switch plunger is in the headlamp position. This was changed in the later years. If you want the park lamps to stay on in the headlamp position you can put a jumper wire from the headlamp terminal on the light switch to the park lamp terminal. After market harnesses like Painless are designed to work either way. The Painless instructions explains how the light switch should be wired.
nice thanks
i will look that up
