I'm trying to identify 2 pieces of trim that fit a '57 Chevy car. They are the stainless steel crown moldings that are on the top of the rear fenders. They measure 29 1/2 inches long. What model are they from, 150, 210, Belaire?
There were three different length crown mouldings for 1957 models. The little shortie for 150 and 210....about 8 inches long.
A mid sized moulding for Bel Air wagons and Nomads and a long moulding for Bel Air models except wagon and Nomad. The length sounds like you have the long moulding for Bel Air models.
Ok thanks. I was thinking maybe that the 150 had the short molding and the 210 might have the mid size one or what. Good to know. Thanks again. JP
I'm told from another Chevy website that they aren't 57 moldings after all. Too short. I guess I'll keep looking. They were in the back of an old pickup that I bought, but didn't fit the pickup. Thanks JP
Yes, I gave you incorrect information.
They are for a Nomad or Bel Air wagon. It is to cold and snowy to go out to the old car garage to mesaaure those on my Nomad.
As I originally said the 150 and 210 had the short ones....Now in looking at pictures to jog my memory the Bel Air model ones went way up to the back window. That leavs the only intermeadiate length on for Nomad and Bel Air wagon (only three lengths made)
The moldings have a recessed tab (at the wide end of the molding) that fits under another molding. The pictures of the '57 moldings that have been sent to me do not have a tab, they are flush on the wide end. I also got a picture of a '58 Buick that had tail fin stainless trim that resembles what I have. But there is no way to check for the tab. Thanks JP
The Chevrolet moulding are hollow on the rear end and slip over the verticle moulding.
