I wonder wether you could help me with information about a Chevrolet that was bought on Madagascar in Africa in December 1934?
I read in a diary that they bought a Chevrolet conduit interienne 14 HorsePower for 9000 francs. I have no more information, but wonder if someone could lead me to which model and production year this could be? All information is interesting for me, even if it is not quite certain.
The 1930 Chevrolet engine had 50 actual horse power and 26.3 taxable horse power. The taxable horse power was determined by the bore size and number of cylinders. Many European countries taxed car in the manner.
Can not say where the 14 came from.
I have just heard from others that the french had their own horsepower so it has to be multiplied with 5 or six to equal the american system. Which means the car had some 70 american horsepower. And the conduit interienne means sedan.
