Does the capillary tube disconnect from the gauge on my 35 truck, or does the bulb, capillary tube and gauge have to come out all together? If so, any tips on how to do it? the tube goes through a multi purpose firewall grommet and I'm not sure the bulb will fit through this opening. Thanks

It comes out as a unit.

The less flexing of the tube the better as the tube hardens then breaks making the gauge inoperative.

There is a cutout at the firewall underneath the grommet that is shaped to allow the capillary tube nut to be removed. As Tony says avoid flexing the tube. At the bottom of the sensor bulb is soldered and since the bulb is made of brass it can corrode with time and the fluid leaks out.
