Not mine but we went to the Barret/Jackson pre-sale event Saturday January 21st 2023 in Scottsdale. Nice looking truck from Indiana State Patrol. Probably early 1930 with a Hercules body. Lot number 430. Has '30 engine attachments ie valve cover, intake manifold, air cleaner. "30 chassis, and brakes. Has "29 gauges and for a '30 Hercules truck body not out of the realm of possibilities. The only part I would question is that front apron. Being a truck it should have a truck front apron, not one from a car. I can only speculate that this part was swapped out some years back or it was lost/damaged and this was the one found as a replacement. Not a big deal and can be changed if desired. Truck has a newer style radiator core.

Having never gone to Barret/Jackson before we didn't know what to expect. The event was larger than we anticipated so we did not get through more than maybe 20% of what was there. Left about 4 pm to avoid the rush out of the parking lots at 5 pm closing. Thousands, and thousands of people.

Looks like someone made a parade vehicle out of a panel truck. Definitely an attention getter. Headlight cross bar and rest of the vehicle that I can see clearly is truck so the front pan is certainly a replacement.

I noticed the four lugs per wheel, which would make it a 1/2 ton truck. The one ton trucks have six lugs per wheel.

In 1928, the 1/2 ton trucks were built upon the AB car chassis. I don't know if this practice carried over into the 1930s. If it did, then the front pan might be for a car.

Attached is a scan from a 1928 Hercules Body Catalog that might be the predecessor to that truck.

To be completely accurate the 1/2 ton chassis was not the same as 1928 passenger. The rear cross member has the shape and brackets for mounting a spare tire and rim. The passenger held a gas tank. The gas tank on the 1/2 ton was under the front seat. FYI The 1929-1932 1/2 ton trucks also had rear spare and gas tank under the seat.

I looked up the vin on Barret/Jacksons site for lot 430 and it started with 6ac so it is registered as a '29. One of my '29s is a 6ac as well but I can not remember if it was the landau or the coupe. The coupe was manufactured in the Janesville WI plant, and the Landau was manufactured in Oakland CA.

6ac would have been assembled in the Oakland CA plant. Janesville would have been 21ac.

The serial number is more evidence that is a vehicle put together at least partially from parts.

Chip is correct that the truck frames have two small brackets to mount the spare tire. What is often missed is the block of wood that mounts on top of those brackets to help support the pickup, or canopy express bed. It was about 4" thick and 3' long and somewhat wedge shaped to fit between those brackets and under the bottom of the bed rails. I see a lot of old pickups in that era that are missing that piece.

As an update the Barret/Jackson website lists that truck as selling for $66,000. A unique ride but I couldn't offer that much. Maybe we can persuade him to join the VCCA. In other words don't poison the water, what is done is done.
