What years during the 1930s were the wire-type radiator hose clamps used?

Looking back at the GM Proving ground pictures through 1936.

What other types, if any, did GM use in the 30s?

From 1937-1952 the band type clamps - 1953-57 the spring wire. They found that these did not hold well in 1958 due to the 13 pound pressure cap.

Did they use the wire-type clamps prior to '37?

I am not aware of any 1931-2 with the double wire type clamp. They used the slotted metal band type. I am not sure when the first wire double band clamps were factory installed.

Thanks, all. I know, from looking at factory photos, that the '34 and '35s used the wire-type clamps, but I was curious about what other years they were used.

I have a poor pictue of the 1930 and it looks like wire.

This subject came up while I was helping to Judge '33-'39 Chevy cars, earlier this week, at the meet in Bowling Green. I told members of the team that I had seen factory (under hood) photos of '35 cars with wire clamps. Everyone seemed surprised. I'm not sure they were convinced.

I thought this was the reason that this subject was brought up.

How many total cars were judged?

Actually, that is incorrect. In researching original factory photos of 1929-32 engines, also checking various pieces of 1929-32 literature and a multitude of original factory filmstrips (both sales and service) the slotted double strap type of hose clamps were used from 1929 thru 1932. Also, an original factory photo of a 1933 206 engine shows the wire type of hose clamps were used in that year instead of the slotted double strap type of hose clamps.

Thanks my friend. Only came back to set the record straight on the slotted double strap type of hose clamps that were used in 1929-1932.
