That tells you something about the newer cars.Would have been difficult to find 1941 cars on used car lots in 1964 when they were 23 years old....the '41's were already a popular colector car by then.

Where is the post Nova Steve Scott made about a week ago about this subject of the 83's and 84's being "eligible".....
As I recall toward the end of that post he asked if anyone had a "story" or pictures or comments about the matter.
I no longer seem to find his post..... Am I just dreaming that Scott wrote such a post, or what????

Well, I guess I must have been dreaming. At the very least confused.......
I thought sure I was reading a "new" post a week or so ago, when in reality I must have been reading this post that's about 363 days old. I found that one when I was searching and so on, trying to locate the post I was thinking about.
I own an 84 Caprice Classic Landau Coupe that's been in my family since new. It's a nice car and loaded with options/accessories. Including a power moon roof. I think it's a nice car. Altho hard to think of it as a "vintage" Chevrolet. I use it as a (sort of) daily driver. I was going to post a few pix and a little blurb about it. Not so sure now.....
Anyway, thanks for straightening me out on my 'new' post - - - 'old' post confusion.

I saw several 1977-81 Caprice cars at the meets that I attended this year.I had a few of those models and always liked them very much.Had a few 1984 to Olds and 1989 Buick wagons that were essentially the same car..(still have a 1994 Roasmaster wagon that is built on the same chassis)....Was great to see nice examples of thse cars, and while they are still rather modern, some times I think owning one would be nice.As far as some of the other
Chevrolets from tha time, like the front wheel drive models, well they just don't trip my trigger.
I was confused also as to where Steves first post went to.

Sorry, I was out of town visiting and was not able to respond. I am glad to see increased activity on this page. I realized, after I made the post, that I was not correct so I deleted the post. You were not having halucinations. I did some more homework regarding the 1982-84 information.
Bill, would you check the information at the heading of this page? I think you have to change the years for display. You have 1982 and 83s. It's now '83s and '84s.
So here is what I have.
1982 Vehicles Become Eligible for Judging This Year 1983 and 1984 Are Display This Year
There are some interesting facts about these years. The '82 Camaro will be the first year for the third generation model which will run until the 1993 models become eligible. These third gen models are quite different from their older brothers and will require a new class BB4. The Celebrity officially became available in 1982 and joins the ranks this year. The Celebrity will go along with the Malibu in Class AA5. The Malibu continues in just the 4dr. Sedan and the wagon in AA5 until 1983. We feel the Celebrity will fall in the AA5 class since it eventually replaced the Malibu. There is a very rare Celebrity VR series that will be very interesting to see when the 1988 and 1989s are in. Z5 class will be in it’s second year with the Citation replacing the Nova in 1980. The only other new addition will be the Cavalier, introduced in 1982. The Cav will fit in class CC along with the Vega, Monza, and Chevette.
The 3rd Gen. Corvette will end with the 1982 models. There will be no 1983 Corvettes. They were not EPA certified and those produced were destroyed. Next year the C4s will be requiring an X9 class.
The S-10 Pickup and Blazer will be on display this year and become eligible in 2008. They replace the Chevy Luv Pickup truck. The S10s will fall in the T8 class. I feel we need to look at the possibility of a T9 in the near future. Presently, the T8 class covers 1973 to 1982. The truck line was slower to change in design and we do not see a big change until 1988 from the basic ’73 design.
I think Gene's point about a 41 in '64 is a good point. Some of us might not accept the fact that a Cavalier is eligible for placement on the judging field but it is not our place to be saying whose sense of nostalgia is accepted and whose is not. We need to have some vision and provide a club for many of these Chevrolets because that is our future.
It's going to get a bit complicated following what GM and Chevy decided to offer in the '80s and '90s. They struggled with the competition from many sides. The fact is history is history. I am sure the strike of '37-'38 didn't help Chevrolet, nor did the war, or the Korean conflict help chrome and whitewalls in '52, or the decision to go with GMAD and the Norwood strike in '71. If we accept Chevrolet we accept the decisions made by them as well. Just my thoughts.

It may also dredge up some other 'policy' considerations. Namely the "cut-off" idea. And other ideas also. But that's a whole nuther situation.....

That's basically the same thing folks were saying 25-30 years ago about cars that were 25-30 years old then.

I still think of the 80s vehicles as daily drivers and winter beaters,its hard to imagine them as show cars and there are not going to be too many of them left in a few years with the high prices for scrap.
I have a 85 K10 that I bought new. it has 234,000 miles and is indeed my dailey driver and snow weather go to vehicle. except for the aftermarket radio and chrome drop bumper it is bone stock. it was painted 2 years ago and has never seen a garage. it is on the 3rd motor and 2nd trans. I'll drive it until it won't go or I can't go, which ever comes first
