Is there any mileage points giving since we drive these cars to the meet?
If you travel with a group you should get a passport and record your distance. There are awards for 500, 1,000, 5,000, and 10,000 miles. This has nothing to do with Judging.
Typically what is the level of a car in the CDPC? class Is a some what older restoration that is driven? I mean they are still real nice cars is what I am getting at
I can give you an example of one of our cars. A 1954 Bel Air with one repaint about 10 years before I purchased it. The interior was original except the headliner had been replaced. I had radial tires on it otherwise it looked as it was built in 1954. The car turned over 100,000 miles about two years ago and I drove it on several Early Six Cylinder tours. It was certified CDPC for the second time at the Anniversary Meet. I hope this will answer some of your questions.
I have an original '47 "driver" and would like to start getting in on some "tours"... Where might I get a "passport"...? Kevin
Contact Dave Cavagnaro. His contact information is in the G&D. Basically you need the car description (make model colors), serial number, a photo and your VCCA info to send to Dave.
There are a few tours on the Left Coast. One the last of August in Durango Colorado is in the planning stage. I plan to be on that one.
Chipper, tell me what you know about the Durango tour.
Any meets coming up this year in Texas where that are judging cars?
Ray,
It will be another edition of the Southwest Fall Tour for pre '55 Chevys (4 & 6 cylinder eras).
Dean is working on the tour. Have not talked to him in the past couple of weeks but he was going to visit Durango to make arrangements for motel, etc. His planned date is the last full week of August. He was also preparing his listing for the G&D "Upcoming Events" but was having problem connecting with his Area Director to get approval.
I expect to see it show up soon in the G&D. Will also try to keep people updated as I get more information.
Don't know of any at this time. It is possible to have judging at the Joint Tour in September if enough people want it. VCCA members will need to contact Blue Bonnet Region members, who are hosting this year in San Antonio, to make the request for judging.
What is the date on the September meet? Thanks
Thanks for the update.
Unfortunately the date conflicts with our NW Meet which is a must to attend.
The 6-cylinder meet is close behind also.
Don't have a solid date on the Joint Tour as yet. Traditionally it is the end of the second week in September but it may change by a week or so if accommodations can't be arranged for the target week.
On the cars if something was originally plated how many points would one typically lose if the part was now painted to simulate the look of the original plating?
In the driver class will you lose points for radial tires also?
Depends on the judge on whether to take off points. Generally they don't or only take a minimum deduction if the part appears close to original.
There are not points in Drivers Participation Class. As long as the vehicle appears to be stock it will qualify. The object of CDPC is to get more vehicles to meets not punish those that make a few changes for comfort and safety.
Oh ok, well maybe I need to be in the Judging class. I just like to drive my car and not trailer it.
