This is the casting # on the block in my '37 Chev. Master DeLuxe, the "black car". If I did this right, the third pic will show my concern. The engine had been replaced before my "Uncle" purchased the car about 20+ years ago. Truck engine?

That's really close. Anything rubbing when you move the steering wheel? Any marks on the pan?

Any thoughts on the oil pan being so close to the long tie rod?? There are no marks on the pan so I know it clears, but just barely.

I don't know, but are the motor mounts correct? Looks like you need a little height.

The block casting number is for a 1938 engine. The engine was removed from a 1938. The oil pan was the same from 193-1939, cars and trucks. The front motor mounts may be crushed.
1938 engine numbers ran from 1187822 thru 1915446 so that number falls into place. There were a few minor changes to the 1938 engine.
The 1937 engine number is stamped into a raised pad just behind the fuel pump.

I agree with gene, this is not a 37. 37 's did not have that machined area behind the distributer like the 38 and up.

I will print these and follow thru with the info they provide. (These pics were taken with the car on jack stands and no weight on the suspension.) Thank you for your time in helping me. And I will keep you all posted with my progress.

Chevgen- I had planned to replace the front engine mount and the bell housing mounts so this observation just confirms that I should go ahead and change them. Thank you and all those who take the time to read my posts and offer their insight and suggestions.

Replace the transmount als o as that holds up the rear of the engine. The front mount holds up just the front and the little side mounts prevent the enginen from rocking sideways.

I over looked that but will add it to my list of parts to purchase.

I checked the mounts and found that they all have been replaced when the engine was changed. Hayree38 seems to have a similar concern and it appears that the oil pans between the '37 and '38 are slightly different. (Comparing my 2 engines) Each car has a different type of mid mount?? The top one is in the "black car" and the 2nd one is in the "white car". The front engine mount is in the "black car". Please excuse the mess, I plan to clean it while it's up on jack stands.
