Hello,
I'm trying to find the names of the blue and red paint colors used on the license light emblem and the front grill emblem for a 39 chevy master deluxe. Not sure what the names are and I want to try to make the colors as original as possible, if the red and blue are original. Thanks for your help!!
I have never seen any name or formula for any of the emblem paints. For my '39 I went to a hobby store and purchased Testors paint in the small bottles. The red was just a medium red and the blue a dark blue, not real dark but like a Royal blue. Can't find the paint as it was done years back. They should also have the small artists brushes.I have a new grill emblem that was used for sample.
I bought small cans of blue and red emblem paint from Chev. of the 40's for the emblems, etc. on my '41 Coupe.
It is supposed to be like the original color. I'm pretty sure '37 would be the same as '41.
Hey, JAR41. Where did you get those cans of original Blue and Red?
I'm getting my old baby (1940 Chev - 2 door sedan), back on the road, mechanically, week after nest, but all the paint is gone from the "Master Deluxe" emblem on the side of the hood and the hub caps. I can improvise like my very helpful friend "chev nut", but original would be better.

DocB>>>>>>The painted area around the hood side Master DeLuxe name is painted body color. ...As far as the red and blue shades are concerned,You can compare two of the same NEW parts that never were exposed to light and find the colors are not the same......
Hey all,
Years ago I purchased a pre-painted repro grill badge for my '37 from Chevies of the 40's. It looks good and is nearly identical to original. Recently, I purchased the trunk lid badge also, expecting it to be painted also. Guess what! Nice trunk badge-but no paint! It looks like it should be painted slightly different than the radiator badge. Can anybody tell me exactly how the '37 trunk badge or emblem was painted? And also, can my originals be replated, as they have some pitting?
Thanks,
Tim
The inner part of the Bowtie is blue filled (not the raised letters) The area outside of the Bowtie is red up to the three verticle lines that are on each side.Rechroming potmetal with pits isn't worth while if new are available.
