Unless you have a supplier I don't know about you usually have to get what you can find and make it work. They are very adjustable and will fit a lot of different body styles. There are modern reproductions but I've not personally worked with one of them so I can't comment on how close they are to the actual Fulton. Here is a site with the original mounting instructions that may be of some help.

:vcca: Hi junkman41, Most everyone who visits this site and takes even a small interest in it, is usually very helpful. This is what this hobby is all about plus we all have a common interest - Chevrolets. You might want to consider joining the VCCA and you would receive a lot more help through other sources within that club such as our fantastic monthly magazine, the Generator and Distributor (G&D). I am sure you will continue to receive support via the Chat Forums but there is definitely an advantage to being a member of the VCCA. Beamer

I think that a VCCA membership would be a better value for the money VS the cost and benefit of an outside Fulton sunvisor on your 41. (IMHO) beer2

I have used the Fulton sunvisors and don't care for them at all. It is my opinion that they are ugly (generic version)on a 41-51 Chevrolet. I sit up fairly high in the seat and had to constantly strain to look under the device. It also caused a lot of wind noise.
I don't believe that a outside sunvisor was marketed by Chevrolet for the 1941 model cars. The curved models on the 52 ,53, and 54 models were , what I thought, a nice addition to the styling of the cars, but they also caused my neck to hurt. :vcca:

Being one who is neither vertically or horizontally challenged I had to put a traffic light viewer on my 38 to prevent the neck strain from looking under the visor. I've had no issues at all with wind noise but I had to "massage" the dogbone brackets to make it fit my car. The brackets were for a later model & no body repops them that I know of. I also made a longer center brace so I didn't have to live with the sleepy sombrero look. I like the look I ended up with.

The 603 was the first Fulton made in about 1947. Would look the best on a 1941.
Today a visor is a love it or hate it item.....but I can take it either way. I took the visor off from my '50 as its a big wind catcher at high speeds.

If you put on that visor, then you have to get lakepipes, teardrop spotlights, 6" chop on the roof, give it a metallic flake paint job and lower the stance by half a foot, so it all looks right.

Sure seems like an aweful lot of work for a visor flush

Tiny,

Your coupe looks great with the visor!!

I like 'em without visors also. But I think yours looks
great. Part of the reason is the extra effort you put
into making it right. Nice job!!!

Bill.

thank you for all your replies, Tiny your car looks great, after doing alot of searching for pictures of a 41, I did'nt come across many with a visor, and hearing its a wind catcher and hard to see under, i decided to not put one on my car. I want to keep it as orginal as possible, no choppin or modifing,I like them the way they were. I will concider joining VCCA. thanks everyone

Were fender skirts ever offered by Chevrolet, or were they an aftermarket deal only?
Posted By: Junkyard Dog Re: fulton sun visor - 08/31/09 01:57 PM
Yep...Chevrolet had them.

laugh wink beer2

Chevrolet first offered skirts in 1934 and offered them every year through 1954.

My chev came with a set in the trunk. They look kinda funky, though. The metal wasn't really "stamped" rather it looked like the metal was crimped over. Not really home-madish, but, not what I would expect from Chevrolet. They are this real snotty old light green, too. Looks like a primer of sorts. I will nab a photo.

If you want to post a photo into a post you first need to put it on a hosting service such as Photobucket. Once the photo is on the hosting site you "copy" the URL (web address) of the photo, click on the 'enter an image' button above (the one with what looks like a piece of paper with a triangle & two blue dots in it), select how you want the image displayed, "paste" the URL into the box, and click OK. Preview your post to make sure everything's kosher and then submit the post.

To kens41
Here are some pictures of my unrestored 41 coupe without visor but with factory skirts. I am not a visor lover but I do like them on some cars, just not mine.Your car looks great.

Looks good. You should retake the picture after straightening out the wrinkle in the car cover behind it. The reflection looks like a big dent.

Tiny,
What model Fulton is on your 38? I just bought a Fulton 700 from a friend. I read the 700 series has squared corners while the 800 series has slightly rounded corners.
Thank you,
Mike

I couldn't tell you what the model number is. I bought it from a local source and had it installed. They are highly adjustable and can be made to fit about anything.
