Hi, i have a 29 ton and half truck that i'd like to replace the rear wheel seals with a "new style" seal... I have seen where a napa seal has been substituted for the cork or rope seal. Can someone give me a bit of advice if this is a good route to go, or should i stick with the original style? thanks in advance!

The modern seal would be ok if there is a breather on the housing. If none is there, just drill and tap for one on top of the housing above the axle.

If you drill for a breather fitting dont put it close to any diff parts as oil spraying of the internals will find its way through the breather causing a big mess. Most breathers are positioned 12" to 14" off centre over the axle shaft where there is much less spray to content with.
