I pulled the front suspension out of my 38 1/2 ton today and found a different spring on each side. I posted a pic in members photos hoping someone can verify which is the correct end. I think the top spring is correct.

Since the picture wont blow up for me the bottom spring looks to be correct, the top spring looks to be missing the correct second leaf that goes under the eyelet some, It could be the original spring but the second leaf was probably broken and replaced with another non original type. I just had the springs apart on my 37 to remove some leaves and add teflon to make it ride better, someone had been into one spring on my 37 as it had two tapered end leaves and one more then the other side. Mine had 7 on one side and 8 on the other but there are 5 on each side now and 37 to 46 springs are the same if you want to get the correct leaf for it. Jeff

Thank you for the information and it concurrs with the comments Gene and Dandyd posted under the pic. It goes to prove I am not always correct. Gene suggested that the dropped eye was an idea for 37, althouh he didnt mention the leaf above the eyed leaf. I feel it would be more beneficial as the 3rd leaf down as the 2nd leaf also curls around the eye. This spring has 11 leaves but as I have never drive the truck I have no idea how it rode, probably like it had no springs at all.

Tony,
I made an error. I should have said the lower picture was of the correct spring that was new for 1937.....was too early in the morning :(

I looked again at the pics and seen the one on the bottom having the extra leaf above the main leaf and I have never seen one like that before, that could be the way they made them in your part of the world of someone added it as mine was not like that or the 41-6 springs I seen at a local swapmeet. You did say the lower spring was correct and I respect your knowledge. From the information I have they were imported as a powered chassis and the tinware was added at Fishermans Bend.
Was the leaf above the eyed leaf standard or is it an added extra?

Tony,
I sent you a picture. Note that 1937 and 1938 are the same.
