Chevs of the fourties offers a disc brake conversion for this car, and I'm wondering if anyone has first hand experience on this kit. Trying to convert to a 5 bolt by 4 3/4 15 inch wheels. or is there a better way? would like to retain original steering wheel to retain some sense of originality.
thanks in advance for your response

You might be best to post this in the "personalized vehicles" section below, there are more members that do modifications there.

The Chev of the 40's conversion kit does not change anything related to the suspension or steering. The caliper brackets mount to the original spindle forging. The disc brake rotor and hubs fit the original spindle.

The kit only fits straight axle (Master) cars. If you have a Master Deluxe with Knee Action suspension you need to search for a different kit,

Also, you will need a different master cylinder because the disc brakes have different volume and pressure requirements.
