I have been in touch with the reporter doing the stories on the 27 in Lake Crescent in NW WA. State for several months. She informed me a few minutes ago that the divers felt the car was in very good shape. They intend to take pictures this weekend. I will let all know what I find out. Dale

I CAN RELATE TO THE 27 CHEVY IN THE LAKE. ABOUT FOUR MONTHS AGO THE DOORBELL RANG AND THIS GUY SAYS THAT HE HEARD I HAD A 32 CHEVY. HE WAS THE HEAD DIVER FROM THE SEATTLE DIVING CLUB AND SAID THEY HAD BEEN DOING ALOT OF DIVING IN LAKE CRESCENT TRYING TO LOCATE A CHEVROLET THAT WAS AT THE BOTTOM OF THE LAKE SINCE THE LATE TWENTIES. HE WANTED TO LOOK AT MY CAR AND TAKE PICTURES, FIGURING THIS WOULD HELP IN TELLING IF IT REALLY WAS A CHEVROLET OR A FORD. I GAVE HIM ALOT OF LITERATURE WHICH HE TOOK WITH HIM AND ABOUT TWO WEEKS LATER THE PARK SERVICE MAILED IT BACK TO ME. I NEVER HEARD ANY MORE UNTIL TUESDAY THE 16TH OF APRIL IN THE SEATTLE TIMES WAS THIS ARTICLE. 27 CHEVY IN LAKE CRESCENT SOLVES DECADES OLD MYSTERY. PORT ANGELES--THE OLYMPIC NATIONAL PARK SERVICE HAS CONFIRMED THAT A 1927 CHEVROLET FOUND IN LAKE CRESCENT ON SATURDAY WAS THE ONE DRIVEN BY RUSSELL AND BLANCH WARREN WHEN THEY DISAPPEARED ON JULY 3, 1929. RUSSELL WARREN HAD PICKED UP HIS WIFE FROM THE PORT ANGELES HOSPITAL WHERE SHE HAD BEEN A PATIENT.LOADED A NEW WASHING MACHINE INTO THE CAR AND HEADED WEST, BOUND FOR A LOGGING CAMP ON BOGACHIEL RIVER NEAR FORKS. THEY NEVER ARRIVED. SPECULATION AT THE TIME WAS THAT THE WARRENS HAD MISSED A CURVE ON THE ROAD, NOW U.S. 101 AND DROWNED AFTER THE CAR TUMBLED INTO LAKE CRESCENT. THE SEARCH FOR THE COUPLE WAS RENEWED LAST SPRING WHEN PORT ANGELES HISTORIAN BOB CASO BROUGHT CLIPPINGS AND OTHER DOCUMENTS TO LAKE CRESCENT DISTRICT PARK RANGER DAN PONTBRIAND. THANKS FOR READING THIS ARTICLE :) :) :) chevy chevy :) :) :)

Hey Donald! That was an extremely interesting story! Thanks for starting at the beginning because now the story makes sense. Do you have any idea if they are going to try to raise the 1927 Chevrolet, or how deep it is in the water? Great story!! laugh laugh laugh laugh
Posted By: CHEVY Re: Chevy in the Lake - 04/18/02 11:06 PM
THE CHEVY WAS FOUND IN ABOUT 150 FEET OF WATER AND THEY DONT PLAN ON BRINGING IT TO THE SURFACE. WHEN THEY FIRST STARTED DIVING FOR THE CAR THEY WOULD DIVE ONLY SO MANY FEET, THE REASON BEING THE WATER WAS VERY MURKY AND VISABILITY WAS NOT GOOD. THE DIVING TEAMS WOULD DO THIS ON THE WEEKENDS ONLY. THEY FOUND THE WASHING MACHINE LID AT ABOUT THE 75 FOOT DEPTH LAYING ON A CLIFF SHELF. THEY ALSO FOUND A FLOWER VASE A LITTLE FARTHER DOWN ON ANOTHER LEDGE. THIS TRAIL OF DEBRIS, THEY KEPT FOLLOWING TO THE CAR. :) :) chevy chevy :) :)

JYD how many blow up Elviras do you think it would take to float the 27 and the washing machine to the surface, that is if
you knew the depth and temperature of the water?
Sounds like a mission for the JYD and the puppies!

A few years back a Ford Model A was recovered from a lake in Idaho. It broke thru the ice in the winter of 1936.

Don, this sounds like a great story for the G&D. I think everyone would like to read about it and if they ever do get any pictures it would be even better. I think about a dozen Elvira's might just get it off the bottom, dump the washer it probally won't work anyway. bigl bigl chevy

WELL I JUST GOT UP FROM THE DINNER TABLE, TURNED THE TELEVISION ON AND CHANNEL 05 WAS TALKING ABOUT THE 27 CHEVY IN THE LAKE. THERE HAS BEEN DIFFERENT THINGS ABOUT IT ON TELEVISION LATELY. THEY WERE TALKING THAT IT COULD BE MAYBE 170 FEET DOWN AND THE PARK DEPT WHO IS SEEING OVER THE WHOLE THING, SAYS ITS A 27 ROADSTER, BUT THE UNDERWATER PICTURES, SHOWS IT LAYING ON ITS SIDE, INTACT AND IT SEEMS TO BE VERY WELL PRESERVED. IT IS, I THINK A TWO DOOR SEDAN. THEY ALSO SAY IT WILL STAY WHERE IT IS. :) :) chevy chevy chevy :) :) :)

I JUST RECIEVED A CALL FROM BILL WALKER, OF THE SEATTLE DIVING TEAM ABOUT THE CHEVY IN THE LAKE. BILL SAID THAT THEY HAVE GONE BACK DOWN TO THE 170 FOOT LEVEL WHERE THE 1927 CHEVY LIES ON ITS LEFT SIDE. THE CAR IS PRETTY MUCH INTACT AND THE WATER IS QUITE MURKY. BILL SAID THAT THEY USED A RADIO CONTROLLED ROBOT CAMERA ABOUT THE SIZE OF A SHOE BOX. THIS CAMERA WAS CONTROLLED FROM THE GROUND WITH THE REMOTE. THE CAMERA WENT INTO THE ENGINE AREA AND THEY GOT PICTURES OF THE WIRING AND OTHER GOOD SHOTS OF THE ENGINE AREA. THE PASSENGER SIDE OF THE CAR IS DENTED IN AT THE WINDSHIELD PILLAR POST AND THEY THINK THAT IS WHERE THE LADY HIT HER HEAD ON IMPACT. THEY HAVE RECOVERED MANY BONE FRAGMENTS AND PARTS OF THE SKULL. BILL ALSO SAID THAT THIS ARTICLE WILL BE ON THE DISCOVERY CHANNEL SOMETIME NEXT MONTH. BILL WILL CALL ME WHEN IT IS SUPPOSED TO AIR AND I WILL RELAY THE DATE AND TIME TO EVERYONE ON OUR CHAT SITE. TO FOLLOW WHAT HAS BEEN HAPPENING FROM THE BEGINNING, READ THIS POST FROM THE START. THANKS :) :) chevy chevy chevy chevy :) :)

Here Is the first postings about the Chevy In The Lake, For those who may of missed reading about It before. It was supposed to on the discovery channel, But I never heard anymore about It ever being shown. A very Interesting story about a old chevrolet and the two people who rode It to the bottom of lake crescent. chevy

They didn't actually hit the bottom as this lake is 624 feet deep.
Posted By: George33Eagle Re: Chevy in the Lake - 12/08/04 02:27 AM
I'd say if they weren't floating, they did hit bottom, just not at the deepest part of the lake.

I need to find out what the value is of a 1925 Chevy Superior Delux Coupe? What is the value if it were in good condition, and the value if it were in extremely poor condition? Can any one answer this question for me? I need to find out ASAP, as I have a chance to purchase this vintage car and need to know if it is worth all the repairs that it needs. Thanks, Marianne Jones

Lake Crescent Is deep for sure,Over 600 feet deep, But where the car went In, It did end up at the bottom of that part of the lake. There Is something about this story almost daily In seattle and I will keep you posted as more Information becomes avialable. chevy

Has the story aired yet?
Posted By: CHEVY Re: Chevy in the Lake - 12/08/04 05:25 PM
I have been trying to find out, Will let everyone know when It airs. The national park service and the seattle diving team has spent so much time on this finding of the chevy. It amazes me that they were able to locate It In a very deep lake and a very cold lake. I think many members of the diving team have been there almost every weekend for the last two years. Diving must be about like chevy guys always working on their cars and even dreaming about when they get one finished and on the road. Finish?, I guess maybe some do get their cars finished.
