i have a 31-independence pickup. i'm trying to repair the lower cowl sections and would like to know how to get the door post off. do i remove the 2 bolts near the foot area and the 2 slotted bolts behind the dash panel. will it just pull off then? i have the cowl off and on a stand.
thanks Jay D.

Yes you remove the two hex head bolts below the dash and the two slotted round headed bolts behind the dash. It will then just pull off like you suspected.

THANKS i just got them off. do you know what type of wood is used? i was thinking Ash but not sure. i'm going to make all the wood for the inside. i believe i have all the pieces in reasonable condition for patterns. and access to a good wood shop. should be somewhat easy as most are all straight pieces in a pickup or easily cut to size.

Most replacement wood parts are made from White Ash for a number of reasons. Originally a whole assortment of "hard wood" was used in Chevrolet bodies. I have found anything from Poplar to White Oak and nearly all in between. Though Oak is commonly guessed by many I have actually not found much.

The truck cab wood parts are mostly straight cuts at least in one dimension. That makes duplication fairly easy with normal wood working tools.
