I have a collection of garnish moldings for Chevrolet that have A-XXXXXX numbers on them. These do not appear in parts books. Does anyone know of a list of these numbers or a way to identify the parts? I believe the ones I have are 1927 or 1928 Chevrolet sedan.
Thanks.

One problem with identifying trim and moldings is they generally only appear for a year or two in the parts books. That year or two period often doesn't include the year of manufacture. So if you think they are '28 you might need to find them in a late '28 or '29-'30 dated book. FYI, there is a separate set of books for 4-cylinder and 6-cylinder vehicles. Yes there are some 4-cylinder books dated up to 1941.

Thanks but I have all the parts books. Looking at the ones from my 29 Sedan they all have a number starting with an A that does not appear in the parts books. I believe this is either a Fisher number or a number from the moulding supplier. This number does not match the numbers in the parts books so they can't be matched up. I can figure the numbers for my 29 but not other years. The extras I have have different numbers then my 29 parts as well as having different dimensions. I was wondering if someone has knowledge of these "A" parts numbers.

The "A" numbers were manufacturing identifying numbers for the year and application. Even though some of the garnish mouldings were identical in configuration, they did have different finishes, therefore, they had different part numbers in the parts books even though the "A" numbers were the same.

I have the chart giving the identification numbers cross referenced to parts book part numbers for 1929 and up. I do not have any information on the I.D. numbers for 1928 and earlier. Maybe if someone has their 28 or 27 apart and can check the stamped numbers on the garnish moldings?
