Can someone tell me how to remove stainless around windshield, back glass, and around roof line on 58 Bel Air 2 door hard top?

Hi maxwow,

Welcome aboard the Chevy Chat II. You have come to the right place for assistance with your 58.

You are getting into a critical phase in the disassembly of your 58. I would suggest you invest in a reprint of the assembly manual for your vehicle. This will pay off in the long run.

Someone will pick up on this thread and tell you where to purchase this manual.

You may consider placing your question in the thread up above for the 58.

Good luck with your project.

First, thanks for the information. I have the car completely disassembled except for the stainless around windows and roof . Have had a lot of old cars reprinted but have never really restored one. Back in the day we would mask off and paint. Now that I am a old guy I want to do this one right.

I understand cars but know little about computer lingo. You said I might consider posting on "thread" above. Could you please explain what you mean? I would gladly buy a reprint of the assembly manual if I can find where to get it.

Thanks again for the help

If you scroll up toward the top of the Forum you will find a section labeled 1955-60. Inside that category you will find 58-60. This is the area specifically for the 58 car.

As to the reference material, I would check eBay and any of the major literature dealers.

They make a special tool for removal of moldings. My glass man uses one. It basically has a "T" shaped head on it.
