I recently acquired a transmission and need help figuring out what it is.
591816 is what I believe to be the number. With a date code of 52 I believe. Its a GM three speed.

That case casting number is for a 1948-1954 truck with 3 speed.

Thanks Gene! That’s what I was expecting. I got another transmission (4 speed) and other miscellaneous stuff, and was told that they were from a ”˜54 truck. Now to retrieve the engine. It’s a 216. When did Chevrolet quit manufacturing them?

1953.............In 1953 the 216 was last used in 1/2 thru 1 1/2 ton trucks and the passenger car based sedan delivery.

And again, thanks! I certainly hope that you are passing all of your older vehicle knowledge to the younger generation! You are quite frequently “Johnny on the spot “ when someone has a need for information concerning these old Chevrolet’s.
