Is anybody making original type fan belts or is it even a concern if I decide to have one of the cars judged? I'm working with 1931 thru 1934. I can buy today style belts here. Filling station sell the new style. Thanks, Joe

I'll rephrase my own question. What is everybody using on the early 30s? Are FHP belts acceptable or just go with the new style & call it good? Thanks, Joe

What do you consider a new style belt? I have always used a conventional solid style belt and got the last one from NAPA and it fits 1937-1952 cars. Same for my '34.

Gene
Most belt manufactures have gone to the flat top, cogged top or cogged inside & looking at a cross section you see all the layers. The old ones from what I remember had like a cloth covering that was vulcanized to the inside of the "V". I've checked with Dayco, Gates, Napa, Delco & several others.
Thanks, Joe

Joe,
Don't know of a source of the original wrapped belts. I use the FHP belts I get at the local hardware store. They are much less expensive than other places and have held up very well.

You must've been the one who told me of FHP belts....Joe

It probably was me. I was told that they would not hold up. Found that it was not true.

The angle is slightly different on the FHP belt, but they seem to do the job.
