Hello folks, I have a 1980 Inpala and everything on it is original, where Can I find the History of 367 CID size motor and how similiar are they to the 350 ? what is the differences? I intend to restore the Car to original. I actually have the delivery papers as well as the business Card of the salesman when it was sold new to my grandmother at the time. the car was kept down south for 17 yrs before I aquired it.

Mr Thumpit, are you sure that is not a 267 cu motor? They were a small bore 350 used during the energy crises of the late seventies and early eightys My 80 monte carlo had a 229 v6 most cars of that era came with small base engines.The 267 is about the same as a 350 just a little slower and a lot better on gas nileage.Let us see a picture when you get done.

I had a 1981 Caprice with the 267 engine or 4.4 L.It had a 3.5" bore and a 3.48" stroke.Was the base V-8 for Chevrolet passenger cars from 1980-83.The optional engine was the 305 with a 3.74 bore.A gas 350 CU was not available in those years.

As I remember the 267 had a smaller exhaust system,smaller air cleaner and cooling system.It was low on power, especially with the AC on, but gave very good city milage.

A 350 was not available again in civilan passenger cars until 1992 (wagon only).

I had several Chevrolet company cars from 1979 thru 1990 all 305 V/8 Caprices with 26 gallon tanks and I got around 22-23 mpg (mostly on the interstates and long distance I had a co-worker that drove a F0RD crown vic or whatever they were then. He followed me from Oklahoma City down to Brownsville Texas while he was in training to replace me when I took another job that year. The Chevy would run more miles on one tank of gas than his F0RD would run on two tanks. When I changed jobs he asked for my Chevy.

Sorry Folks, I Mistyped (DUH) fingers slipped on the 3 instead of the 2 and yes I meant 267 what is the history of this motor, how long was it produced ? as for being just a little slower, when it gets redone I want to beef up the engine a little but outward appearances keep it original if I can. didn't realize my typo untill after the fact. `Available from 1980-83.Nothing can be done to pep it up.Installing a 305 which looks the same would be the only way.....try it as it is, may not be as bad as you think.

The 1980 was the last non-computer car which is a plus in its "old age"
