Dear ALL. Can someone help me sort out these Con Rod numbers for the 1932 ( Chip is helping me out to identify if it actualy is a 1932) These Con Rods are on this engine but according to the informaion I got these are not 1932? The numbers on the C.R. are=836601 and 836512 they have the Bowtie stamped on them. Many Thanks for your help.

Both numbers can be correct for a 1932. Originally one number was for 1929-1931 and one for1932, for replacement parts the numbers were combined by Chevrolet in the later years.

To make a long story short.

The difference is the 836512 are rods with the thrust surface (side of the rod journal) coated with babbitt. The 836601 rods have the steel rods as the thrust surface. Since the rods don't normally actually touch the sides of the machined crank throw it doesn't matter which you use. Writing that I caution to try to match rods with the same overall weight and end weights as close as possible. Varying weights leads to a slight dynamic imbalance. Matching piston weights is also important.
