No, it's not viscous enough and you should expect to have a lot of leakage. Most of us use the "600W" that's sold by the Filling Station and by a number of Model A Ford suppliers like Snyder's, Mac's and Mike's Afordable.

i ran 85/140 in my 1934 for years. Same transmission as your '32 and close to the same differential Forget the U joint. That does not get drained with the transmission. Originally the '34 called for 160 but with toays better lubricants 140 is OK for hot operation. Way too thin for the steering gear. i MIXED 140 AND CHASIS grease to form a paste for that.

I am in Canada. Can't ship oil across border. What about Castrol D140?

Mobil makes a 600W cylinder oil that looks like its available in Canada... maybe find a Mobil outlet and inquire?

I would say the Castrol is fine.
Isn't cylinder oil a form of motor oil?

Try Twiss Model A Parts. He is located on Ontario and could probably get the 600W oil for you. Do a search as I don't have his contact info and I am sure he has a web site. There are many more items sold by "A" dealers that can be used in our cars especially the generic stuff.

The 90/140 W would work just fine. The oil today is much better than years ago. You can also get oil that is rated EP for extreme pressure at industrial supply stores. The 90/W is EP440.

Thanks all. Good info. Will check out suppliers and products mentioned. Steering box needs heavier oil/grease?

I followed suggestions on the steering box about ( John Deer corn head grease). I tried mixing bearing grease and 140 to make a past. Still had a drip. Put in the john deer corn head grease and no drips. Can get it at most farm supply stores.

The steering box takes 600W as well. If it drips then I would expect the bushings to be worn and probably need replacement.

I machined the neck to accept an oil seal and filled the box with the "corn head oil". No leaks so far, however is is not being driven yet.

Penrite steering box oil works great. I have also heard many good reports about the corn head oil.

600w or gear oil will just run out on the ground.

Again probably worn bushings that need replacing.
