So my wife Jane goes shopping in the USA today, and I get a text around 7pm with these pictures attached. She had her friends drive through the customs booth next to it just so she could get pics and send them to me! Gawd, I love my wife!!
So, are one of you guys the lucky buyer... or seller??
Is that legal...? Hahaha Wait a second...Which way was it going...?
It's going north. That's how we get a lot of our good tin up here now.
Ah, a Christmas present that will go on for 10 years or more, and offer lots of opportunities for adding to it! Great wife!
I know where there is one here in Australia. Supposed to be a '31, but it has spoked wheels. The guy wants to sell it, but can't vouch for chassis condition.
Cheers,
Alan
Looks like an LR or LS series 1 1/2 ton truck, going by the single brake cross shaft.
According to my 1954 NASCO & Maple Leaf parts book, there were no trucks imported into Australia in 1930 or 1931,unless the truck you know of came in from New Zealand.Sure it's not a 1929 LQ 1 1/2 ton truck?
If you're talking about the pics above, that one is in Canada...
Just replying to Aussie 31's post, mate!
Oh, so you've seen it then! I was confused as to how you knew all of that info by his description. Have you got a link to an advert, or did you see it in person?
FYI,all Australian trucks,be they 4 cyl or six cyl(up to 1929)had wooden spoke wheels as standard fitment, the 4cyl trucks in '28 had a an optional steel spoke wheel for the rear only and '29 trucks had wood spoke wheels all round as standard fitment. An optional steel spoke wheel set up was available for the rear if you were carting heavy loads, and an even harder to find set of steel spoke wheels were available for the front as well.
Disc wheels(20")were never available in Australia as an option by dealers on trucks, either 1 ton 4 cyl,or 1 1/2 ton 6 cyl.
I will go and have a look at it and check to see if any ID plates and let you know what it is. I know in Aust they converted Model A's into trucks. Could be a chopped car. Keep you posted.
Alan
The dash instruments are one area to look and determine if 1929 or 1930. Oval in '29 round in '30. Gas gauge in '30 with sending unit in tank is another as are cable front brakes instead of rods.
