I have a '32 five window with a new interior which I didn't install. A couple of seat back buttons have come loose and I want to tighten them up as long as I don't do more damage in the process. After reviewing the drawing in the parts book, I expect to have to remove the seat entirely and go in through the back since the cushion is nailed to the frame. I expect to find a solid piece of masonite (?) or similar material between me and the back side of the springs which I think is where I need to be. Can I get this backer off without doing more damage or is there some other approach entirely?

An upholstery shop should have a tool that they can go in from the front and re-tie the buttons. I've had a shop do one of our cars. They'll do it so quick you will not know what happened.
