I'm in the process of installing the windows in my 36 FC. Can anyone tell me what type of seal, if any goes between the outside of the glass and the lower part of opening. I have been told there was nothing there originally, but that doesn't make sense since there would be nothing to stop the door from filling up with rain. The Filling Station offers a couple of options but I don't know which is correct. Would it be possible for some one to post of e-mail me a photo of what the window seals should look like.

Nick, Chevgene just alerted me to this question, and here's what I found on my 36 Master 2-door. I disassembled mine about 2 years ago, so I'm going on my memory here. I know there was a horizontal rubber molding between the body and the glass. It was very thin and about a 1/4 in wide or so,and ran the entire length of the window. I think it was original, since the car had been repainted once, but the rubber had been taped off and there was a little overspray. However, it really didn't keep the water from getting in. It wasn't that tight of a seal. You could look down and see the window mechanism even with the rubber in place. I think it must simply have been there to protect the edge of the body from getting rubbed by the glass and vice versa. I assume the inside of the door did get wet based on the amount of rust I found on the bottom of the door when I took it apart. The water just ran out of the drain holes as far as I can tell. I still have the old rubber in storage as I'm still restoring the car. I'll dig it up the next time I get back to my parts storage and send you a picture. I bought replacement rubber from Steele Rubber (probably the same place that supplies the Filling Station), but I'm not sure how close it is to the original.

Randy, Thank You for making this reply.I hate to see a simple question go without being answered.Perhaps some one else with a 1935 Master or any 1936 could add to it.

After looking at my disassembly pictures, it looks like the rubber seal was only on the back window (of the 2-door). There was no seal at all on the front door.

On my '35 Master Coach I do not believe there was any provision for a rubber seal between the glass and the lower door sill in either the doors or the rear side windows.

I'll bet the ones on my rear windows were added later.
