I am associated with a local history project. A 101 year old remembers that her family purchased a Chevrolet in 1917, but she does not remember the model. What were the names of the models on sale in 1917?

The "490" being, by far, the most common.

Dog, your confusion is caused by the irrational statements and rantings of this poor, misguided soul from Lakeland, Florida. He has been too long in the heat. Having lived myself for several years in the scorching inferno of Florida, I understand how it may have addled his brains. Of course, he was not blessed with an abundance (of brains), so the 'addling' has taken a stiff toll!

When he says "The only thing not older than you is dirt!" he is refering to my signature line where it says "If it ain't older than me, I don't want it."

Speaking of being OLD, he was already dropping out of high school while I was still in diapers!

He is just jealous, because I have escaped from that tortured, confused oven-like land, and now reside here in Paradise, where a man can breathe in the cool air of the Heartland, and be surrounded by vintage automobiles, instead of small, speeding hondas and such, which emit strange booming sounds, and are apparently powered by large rubber bands instead of healthy American V8s!!!

His only saving grace is that he was fortunate enough to stumble into the ownership of a Chevy Roadster, which he has spent approximately 40 years making road-worthy; and he has a very patient and forgiving wife!

(Note to those who don't know us - all this is said tongue-in-cheek, as Roadster32 is actually a dear friend of mine, and we miss him very much having moved away!)

The old mutt understands all of that, but the    was because, to me, it appeared that old Roadster32 kinda got it backwards. Instead of saying "The only thing not older than you is dirt!", I believe that his statement should have read "The only thing older than you is dirt!". Sounds more logical to me.......but what do I know........I'm only a dog! Bow Wow!! laugh laugh laugh

Well, see, back to the addled brains - he gets most things backwards, if he gets them at all!!!

The only thing older than you is dirt. Is that goodder?? By the way, it only took 21 years. Ask JYD how long he has been on his unfinished project. JYD knows my car he helped in the very beginning of the project. He's one of the reasons it turned out so good.

How far are you from Hudson, Ohio? Send me an E mail

I have some dirt here that is NEWER than since you started that car! That car wasn't even an antique yet when you started!

Hudson Ohio is 53 miles from where I'm sitting.

Junkyard Dog, don't admit nothing here about lengths of time on restorations. He will try to use it to incriminate you later.... you gotta watch him, that's how he is.

It sounds like he has a couple of the 1928 Chevrolet power units. They were used to power everything from a burnishing machine, generators and sawmills to carnival rides.

I wonder if any of them were adapted for marine use?
